Hi, I’m Rhonda Mitchell, and I established CaseSix. With 37 years of experience at the Department of VA, I’m now an Accredited Claims Agent. During my time as a Senior Decision Review Officer (DRO) at the VA, I encountered a wide array of case scenarios. As a DRO, I held a senior-level position responsible for managing post-decision appeals of disability award determinations. Consequently, when the VA issued decision letters to veterans and/or their accredited Attorneys or Claim Agents, and the outcomes fell short of expectations, these appeals frequently landed on my desk.
My responsibilities were twofold: ensuring the accuracy of claims in accordance with VA laws outlined in the 38 CFR and M-21 regulations, and verifying the VA’s compliance with these regulations when rating and adjudicating cases. In instances of errors, corrective actions ranged from overturning denials to identifying “Clear and Unmistakable Errors” (C.U.E.) that could benefit the veteran.
